Tempter was
Strawberry Banks’ first great stallion. A leg injury as a weanling
prevented him from having a show career, but the long-necked, upright grey stallion’s bloodlines are a mainstay in the Strawberry Banks
breeding program. Tempter’s sire Cognac (*Bask x *Gdynia, by Comet)
and Tempter’s dam, Tonki (*Bask x *Boltonka, by Arax), were
performance champions. Since *Bask himself was out of an Amurath Sahib
daughter, Tonki fulfilled – and helped perpetuate - the formula of
taking back to a sire the best blood of his dam. Ericca (unanimous U.S.
National Mare and unanimous U.S. National Champion English Pleasure Jr.
Horse) was Tempter’s
first foal to gain national acclaim, but there are others following in
her footsteps.
A Temptation, by Tempter, is one of Strawberry
Banks’ most exciting stallions. His first major victory was being named the unanimous 2000 Ohio Buckeye English Pleasure, Junior
Horse Champion. Silvery-white and gifted, A Temptation was then chosen
the unanimous 2000 U.S. National English Pleasure Champion, Junior
Horse. He went on to become the U.S. National English
Pleasure Champion Horse in 2002.
